School Shadow Support

Supporting children to participate, connect and learn in their school environment.

Starting or participating in school can be challenging for some children, particularly when they need additional support with communication, learning, social interaction, behaviour, emotional regulation or transitions.

Our School-Based Support Program provides individualised support within the preschool or primary school environment, helping children build the skills and confidence they need to participate more independently in their everyday school experience.

Our practitioner works alongside the child during classroom activities, routines and social opportunities, providing support where needed while gradually encouraging greater independence.

What Does School-Based Support Involve?

Depending on your child's individual goals and needs, support may include:

Our goal is not simply to complete worksheets or teach academic concepts. We aim to help children develop the foundational skills, confidence and learning behaviours that support their participation in everyday learning.

Working Together With Schools

We believe meaningful support works best when families, practitioners and educators work together.

Where appropriate and with the necessary consent, our practitioner can collaborate with teachers and school staff to promote consistency between intervention goals and the child's everyday school environment.

This may include discussing strategies, sharing observations and contributing practical ideas that can support the child's participation and inclusion.

Our aim is not for a child to become dependent on a support person. Instead, we work towards building skills, confidence and independence, gradually reducing support as appropriate and helping the child participate as independently as possible.

Supporting Inclusive Education

We believe children should have opportunities to participate in inclusive learning environments and engage meaningfully with their peers.

Every child may require different adjustments and levels of support to participate successfully. Our role is to understand what helps each child engage, communicate, learn and feel comfortable within their school environment.

Through individualised support and collaboration, we aim to help children make the most of their educational experience while building skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Who May Benefit?

School-Based Support may be helpful for children who:

Our goal is to provide the right level of support while helping each child build the confidence and skills to participate as independently as possible.

Our Approach

At UpLift Intervention, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, understood, engaged and supported. We use a strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming approach, adapting activities to suit each child's learning style, interests and needs.

Our goal is not to make every child learn in the same way. Instead, we create opportunities for children to develop the skills they need to learn, communicate, participate and become more independent.

Every child learns differently. Their support should too. Let's help your child build the confidence and skills to take their next step.
